Tournament Rules & Information
AoE3: DE Group to Glory Tournament Rules
📜 Overview
-
Multifaceted single elimination team tournament
-
8 teams; 5 players each
-
Each team will be assigned a player-captain, who will be responsible for organizing the team and their weekly lineup
📋 Drafting and Captain Rules
-
Captains will be determined from the list of players based on Elo and expected performance
-
Then, captains will fill out their team by drafting players from the remaining pool of participants
-
Picking order starts from the lowest rated captain to the highest, and then reverses back and forth in each round until all slots are filled
-
Captains will then arrange the weekly lineup of the 5 players and relay their decision to an admin
⚔️ Match, Set, and Round Rules
Match Rules:
-
Each match will be a BO3
-
Map pools are predetermined and are listed further below
Set Rules:
-
A set between two teams is composed of 2 x 3v3 matches and 2 x 2v2 matches (4 total matches)
-
Each week, a 2v2 and 3v3 match will be played, with all 5 team members participating in either the 2v2 or 3v3 match
-
After the 4 matches are played over the 2 week period, the team who won more games overall in the set will advance
-
If both teams are tied, the team whose lowest drafted player won the most games advances. In the case of a further tie, the next to lowest players are compared, and so on
Round Rules:
-
The team that wins a set will move on to the next round, while the losing team will be eliminated
-
There are a total of 3 rounds, including the finals, all of which will be played out over a 5-week period
Grand Finale:
-
During the finals, a single 2v2 and 3v3 match will be played
-
Each match will be a BO5; elsewise, the rules remain the same
🌍 Civilization and Map Rules
Civilization Rules:
-
Before a match is played, each team will choose 2 civilizations as their safe picks
-
Afterwards, each team will ban 2 civilizations from the opponent’s remaining civilization pool
-
This process is repeated before the start of every subsequent bo3 series.
-
Game 1 will be blind civilization picks; afterwards, the winners of the previous game will pick first
